Smart Golf Bag Innovation
Enhancing The Golfing Experience

Golfers need a solution to prevent congestion on the golf course, so we aim to enhance the golfing experience using technology integrated into a luxury golf bag.

What we do at E-Caddy
The E-Caddy project is a revolutionary golf bag designed to enhance the golfing experience through advanced technology. Developed by Ari Chinitz, Sam Cotliar, Jack Horowitz, and Daniel Lerner, the E-Caddy aims to address common problems faced by golfers especially congestion on golf courses and uncertainty about club selection. The bag integrates a GPS system that calculates precise distances to the hole, then uses that data to recommend and automatically eject the appropriate club via a pop-up mechanism. A user-friendly LCD display adds to the ease of use, making it accessible for golfers of all experience levels. The product is powered by an Arduino Mega and includes components like an H-bridge, button circuit, linear actuator, and GPS sensor. This setup ensures reliable club recommendations and automation. The E-Caddy is priced at $299.99, with a production cost of $200.00, making it a profitable item for retail. It will be sold on platforms like Amazon and in sporting goods stores and country club shops. The E-Caddy is ideal for experienced golfers looking to streamline their game, new golfers who need help choosing clubs, and country clubs aiming to reduce course congestion. Feedback from college golfers helped validate the need for such a product, with many expressing frustrations about disorganized bags and club selection. In comparison to competitors, the E-Caddy offers a unique blend of automation, precision, and convenience, making it a major technological step forward in the $8 billion golf industry. This project took a lot of testing and failing too.
Team Bios & Responsibilities:
Ari Chinitz: Wiring and code
Sam Cotliar: Physical building of the bag
Jack Horowitz: Slides and website
Daniel Lerner: 3d printing and laser cutting
Outside Help & Resources:
Interviewed college golfer Gidi Katz for real-world insights.Consulted online Arduino resources for technical support.Engaging Data Graphics:Created graphs showing golfer frustration levels, average time per hole, and projected market share impact.
AI’s Role in the Project:AI tools helped analyze golfer behavior patterns and identify common sources of delay during rounds, guiding product development priorities and refining user needs. Ai gave us opinions and feedback, and ultimately gave us a lot of online research from many golfing magazines, shows and websites.

The global golf market is a substantial industry, estimated to be worth around USD 88.3 billion in 2023 and projected to reach USD 103.8 billion by 2028, driven by many factors including increased demand for equipment and golf tourism.

The Increasing Popularity in golf
As a team, we read articles, listened to golfers, and watched videos. One thing we heard over and over again was that golf is becoming more popular every single day, and people desire to have luxury golf equipment. An article we read titled Golf’s New Groove: The Swing Towards Fashion, Luxury, And A Youthful Edge said, "Recent statistics show a significant uptick in golf’s popularity, especially among younger demographics. According to the National Golf Foundation, there has been a noticeable increase in participation rates, with a record number of people playing on a golf course for the first time in 2023." Articles like this were an influence to us as we were encouraged to provide a high-tech and luxury golf bag.

Inspiration and approval
As a team, we interviewed a college golf player. This interview is where we gained confidence and got the opinions that pushed us forward in building our high tech golf bag. Not only did we receive feedback from a lone college golfer, he sent out our form to his golf team and we got the feedback that validated our project idea.
